Lead Technicians: Aaron Santiago and Char Simpson
Production Assistant: Ricardo Delgado Garces
Severe Clear was a Work in Progress Interactive Zoom experience exploring seemingly random choices that manifest as substantive life changing events. It was presented by The Digital Storytelling Lab. About 50 people were present for the Test/Break session where the lab tests experimental works to find where they might break. The Zoom audience was then asked to participate in making a series of choices and were presented with a tally of the results.
Severe Clear examined the power of choices and how seemingly random choices can result in catastrophic outcomes…or not.
I worked at Windows on the World in September of 2001. In fact, I shot the time lapse video appearing behind the spinning tarot cards in 2001 from the 106th floor. I extended my vacation to return to work NOT on September 10th as originally planned but on September 12th. That simple administrative choice resulted in me avoiding what 74 of my co-workers could not avoid … being trapped and dying in Tower #1 of the World Trade Center.
